"Modesty Bridge" in Mea Shearim

B"H

During Sukkot last year, the wooden "Modesty Bridge" was already standing in front of the Great Breslover Synagogue in Mea Shearim Street. The only difference to today was that the bridge wasn't covered with sheets (plastic).

The two pictures below show the bridge standing at the same location this week. It was put there by the Toldot Aharon and men should walk over the bridge and women (see sign) pass through the bottom part. However, the women's part is shut down and thus women walk through the street.

I have never understood the point of this bridge besides some Mea Shearim politics.

  1. The point is to remind women who gets trampled on and who does the trampling.
