At the grave of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron

B"H

Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai is known as a Tanna (Talmudic Rabbi) as well as the author of the kabbalistic book "Zohar". About two weeks ago, I went to his grave in Meron (northern Israel).

The Breslover Nana group rules over the souvenir sales in front of the entrance to the grave.

The building where the grave is located has two entrances: One for women and the other for men. Picture above: The Mezuza at the women's side.

According to Halacha, a Jew has to wash his hands after leaving a cemetery due to purity reasons. The sink on the picture is located right outside the women's side of the grave; in the yard.

  1. Shalom,

Firstly, the Breslov sub-sect are referred to as "Na-Nach" not Na-Na (which is simply a mistake.)

Secondly, please confirm that you have permission to post our friend's picture (I would be happy to ask on your behalf.)
If it were me, I wouldn't want a tourist posting pictures of me on their blog without my knowledge, so I just wanted to make sure.

    Hope all is well!
